Questions & Answers
Why are we raising funds for Saint Joseph Catholic Church?
Nearly two years ago, Saint Joseph established a Building Committee to assess the Parish's physical and structural resources. It was determined, through a series of surveys and listening sessions, that Parish facilities do not meet our current or projected needs. Therefore, plans are in place to construct a new Parish Center adjacent to the church and school. This entirely new facility will include; a main hall, which seats over 700 people, meetings rooms, parish offices and a Perpetual Adoration Chapel. The new multi-use facility will serve everyone in the Parish by providing space for small- and large-group meetings as well as educational and social events.
What is the actual goal of our campaign?
The minimum goal of the Fulfill the Dream campaign is $850,000. These funds, supplemented by $350,000 from the sale of Sacred Heart Property and the Building Fund will finance our $1.2 million project. The Diocese of Tulsa has approved a loan for a maximum of $250,000 enabling construction to begin this spring. Any funds raised above our $850,000 goal will minimize the size of the loan we obtain from the Diocese.
When will the construction begin?
The project has been broken down into 2 Phases. The first phase will include installing the foundation, roof, interior and exterior walls, ceiling and floor for the offices and Perpetual Adoration Chapel. It is projected that Phase I construction will begin sometime in April and last approximately six (6) months. Phase II will include the completion of the interior meeting rooms, kitchen, youth room and hall. The estimated time of completing Phase II is twelve (12) months after the completion of Phase I.
Why should I give to this campaign?
A capital campaign such as Fulfill the Dream requires gifts not of equal size, but of equal sacrifice. Saint Joseph will present everyone in the Parish with a specific gift request. These suggestions are based on the size of the goal of our campaign. Parishioners are asked to prayerfully consider this amount relative to their financial capabilities. Your responses will be ones of choice and sacrifice, but participation from all is crucial to our success. This is an extraordinary effort that calls for extraordinary sacrifice and commitment.
How do I make a pledge and payment?
A deposit of 10% of your total pledge is strongly encouraged at the time of your donation. Please make your gift when a campaign volunteer calls on you. Knowledge of your participation and your deposit allow the Parish to plan more effectively. As you will see, the letter of intent/pledge card allows you to schedule payments according to your needs (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually).
Is my gift tax deductible?
All gifts to the Fulfill the Dream campaign are tax deductible. Multi-year pledges are tax deductible for each year that payments are made.
Can I make a gift other than cash?
Yes. In fact, a range of attractive possibilities exists, including appreciated stock, real estate, etc. Please contact your financial advisor about these choices and ask your campaign volunteer how to proceed or contact Katy McElligott at the Campaign Office, 687-1351.
I would like to make a pledge; however, our budget is especially tight this year. How can I still participate in the campaign?
The campaign pledge period is structured over three to five years. If necessary, you can pay only the deposit on your pledge (10%) now, and structure payments for your remaining pledge intention over the five-year period as your situation requires.
Why does the campaign emphasize personal visits?
Personal contact is the only way to ask for support. It underscores the personal nature of charitable giving, allows for a thorough presentation of the anticipated project, gives donors the opportunity to ask questions, and allows campaign volunteers to personally share their enthusiasm for the Fulfill the Dream Campaign.
What if I cannot fulfill my pledge?
Your pledge is not a legally binding agreement. If you make a pledge and later experience some form of financial hardship, you are not legally bound to fulfill the pledge. Saint Joseph asks that you simply contact the Parish Office and explain that your pledge cannot be fulfilled.
